Burgers For the Season by @BuffysCookHouse

We have entered the Ember months known to me a Chef as the time parties start to heat up, back to back, on weekends and Maybe even during the week, its a joyful Season, the year is almost over, end of year parties, weddings, house parties and all sorts. Nothing beats a burger with friends on a cool harmattan evening, Plus it counts as extra points for you when you are trying to impress the guests. Grilling, Pan Frying; anyone works. Ground Beef blended easily with a few spices, a bread bun and your Favourite condiments and your jobs practically done.

The origin of the hamburger can be traced back to the 17th Century with Several Cities and people claiming it ,but today we’re focusing on the juicy goodness that are Cheesy Hamburgers.You can serve these with your Favorite kind of Fries (Sweet Potatoes , Irish Potatoes or even Yam chips)

Yield: 6 persons

1 kg Freshly Ground Beef

1 Tbsp Onion Powder

2 Tsp Salt

Bunch of Fresh Parsley leaves(minced)-Optional

1 Tbsp Black Pepper

1 Tsp Garlic Powder

6 Slices Cheddar Cheese Slices

6 Large Burger buns, Sliced and Toasted

1/4 Cup Groundnut oil

To Garnish-

Ketchup

Mayonnaise

Mustard

Thousand Island dressing

Sliced Red Onion (Optional)

Sliced Tomatoes

Fresh Lettuce leaves/Salad Greens

Coleslaw

Directions:

-In a Large bowl, Mix Ground beef , Onion powder, Salt, garlic and pepper until just combined (Do not over mix as it tends to toughen the meat) You could include the Parsley at this point.

-Divide into Six portions and form into Small sized tennis balls and then proceed to flatten, they should be even in thickness about 1-1 1/2inch Thick.

  • Heat up a cast-iron Frying Pan on high heat, Drizzle in oil, Making sure just to use as little as possible and place the patties into the fry pan.

-Cook for 6/7 mins flipping once then when cooked add a slice of cheese on each patty, close the lid and leave for 2 more minutes till its slightly melted

-Remove Patties and place on a plate.

-Put Mayonnaise or any Garnishing of your Choosing on the bread buns, place the patties in the bun.

Serve with any Accompainment of your choosing.

Note: Tbsp means Tablespoon as in a measuring Spoon

Tsp means Teaspoon as in a measuring spoon
