Content, Key to Social Media Growth – Experts … as maiden Digital Summit holds in Warri

Content has been described as key to establishing landmarks in the social media space.

This among others, was part of an all encompassing educational and innovative social media affair at the first ever Warri Digital Summit (WDS), held on Thursday, 8 February, 2018, at the Nneoma Coliseum in Warri, Delta State.

The WDS which had great minds and intellects brainstorm on ways to take social media activities to greater heights in the oil city, identified problems hindering the growth of Warri in the world of social media.

Stating that it was high time Warri city carved a niche for itself in the brand called Social Media, Mr Igho Tietie, who’s the convener noted that Warri is a hub of enviable talents, just as he expressed optimism that a new dawn has come for the teeming Warri social media users.

Delivering a keynote address, Rume Ogane, disclosed that demoralizing colleagues was a notable setback for Warri users to make relevance in social media. He therefore called for

alliances amongst all in order to “leverage in the digital gains of our economy.”

Meanwhile, explaining why social media activities in Warri is not relevant in the world of the new media, Mr Tobore Adakaraza, one of the panelists said most social media users in Warri only take advantage of the various platforms, rather than supply contents.
“I don’t see interesting content coming out of Warri. We can cause a change by supplying creative contents,” he lamented.

Adding that the SM is a worldwide brand, Adakaraza noted that business transactions made via SM platforms, contributes to nation building as they “add to a nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).”
Speaking on the fundamentals of blogging, a blogger, Mr. Seun emphasized on “originality of contents”, pointing out that continuous reposting of contents created by others, will discourage intending visitors to one’s social page.

According to Mr Demola Adetona , renowned social media user in Nigeria, to create content that will drive sales, SM users have to identify their passion or what will work for them and follow through; ensure that a potential customer’s need is being satisfied and keep tabs on social media trends.

Mr Festus Okegbemi, OJ Lugard, Azuike Collins, Segun Manuel, Ngwu Augustine, Mrs Bukola Wahab, amongst others were resource persons at the event.

The event saw Crown FM & Kpoko FM’s on-air personalities, Prince Uzoigwe & Jennifer Omoko: Rize FM’s Miss Nkechi among others in attendance.
