According to reports, activities at the Osubi Airport were halted yesterday over the lingering debts by the airport. It was also reported that Traffic Controllers withdrew their services and it was a ‘No work’ day.
This action was in line with the directives from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). As a result of the ‘No work’ movement, no aircraft could land or takeoff.
It was also alleged that the airport’s facility manager refused to pay the lingering debts and the reason he gave was that the services are government-owned. NAMA insists that the costs of training and salary are just as much as what is spent on pilots!
